The Connected Cyclist: The Bike Industry’s next Big Market

COMODULE participated in the Connected Cyclist Conference, organized from European Cyclists Federation and ADFC (Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrrad-Club). Kristjan Maruste, Comodule’s CEO, participated in the Panel discussion regarding Smart Integration from & Into the Bike. Together with Jim Meyer from Quarq & Dirk Sandrock from Momes, they shared their learnings about smart product development, as well as the new monetisation opportunities which arise.

Over a hundred digital mobility experts and top bike manufacturers participated, worked together, and most importantly put the basis of creating a Smarter Cycling Community with ECF’s help! All the participants agreed that collaboration among all stakeholders, including industry players, municipalities and riders, is a key factor which will help the industry to move forward. Furthermore, everyone agreed that bike industry is currently in growth stage, hence, new bike players will pop up within the next years.

The main topics of this year’s conference was digitization and connectivity as tools for the future of mobility. Several representatives of companies such as, ZEG, VODAFONE, ZEHUS, SEE.SENSE, COBI and others, had the opportunity to discuss sensorisation, on-bike connectivity, the Internet of Things, wearables, mapping, and other emerging technologies are combining to leverage the connected cycling ecosystem.
