Comodule and 2Lock partner for an integrated digital and physical e-bike security solution

We at Comodule are happy to announce our strategic partnership with 2Lock, a startup known for its advanced bike hub-locking technology. This collaboration aims to set a new benchmark for e-bike security by merging Comodule’s digital safety features with 2Lock's physical locking mechanisms.

Advanced connectivity for e-bike protection

Comodule is renowned for its sophisticated smart e-bike security solutions, which include bike tracking, automatic digital lock, e-bike drivetrain immobilizer, and acoustic alarm. Recognizing the need to enhance these digital features with robust physical security, we've partnered with 2Lock to deliver the most comprehensive security solution on the market.

Introducing 2Lock hub lock

This partnership introduces an innovative hub lock from 2Lock that streamlines the locking and unlocking process while significantly boosting security. The hub lock integrates two mechanisms in one hub: one prevents wheel rotation and the other blocks unauthorized wheel removal. This secure system leaves no vulnerable surface for thieves to attack. It seamlessly integrates with our IoT technology via a CAN bus connection and can be activated or deactivated with a single click through the Comodule Companion App.

Eliminating resale value for stolen e-bikes

In the event of a theft attempt, our IoT system is immediately triggered, sending a movement alert to the app, locking the wheel, and activating other security features such as the acoustic alarm and drivetrain immobilizer. Even if the bike is stolen, it remains trackable via the app and can be recovered. Removing the 2Lock system is so labor-intensive that it results destroying the wheel and fork, rendering the bike useless to thieves. Combined with the drivetrain immobilizer, this makes the stolen bike virtually worthless, deterring theft.

Why is enhanced security important for e-bike manufacturers?

As e-bikes become increasingly popular, the rate of e-bike theft has also risen. Given the significant and growing investment e-bikes represent, the demand from consumers for enhanced security features is growing. An increasing number of insurance providers are also demanding certificated security add-ons (like GPS trackers), that mitigate the risks of theft, and therefore enable them to offer service for consumers.

By integrating advanced security solutions, manufacturers can:

  • Boost consumer confidence: Robust security features, designed specifically for the bike they buy, reassure buyers that their investment is reliable, protected, and hassle-free, potentially increasing sales.

  • Lower theft and insurance rates: Comprehensive security systems act as a deterrent, making e-bikes less attractive targets for thieves. E-bikes equipped with certified trackers will give insurance benefits for the consumers.

  • Enhance brand reputation: Prioritizing security helps manufacturers build a reputation for reliability and innovation. In addition to security features, the app is a new marketing channel for the brand, enabling different marketing initiatives, servicing and constant flow of feature updates for the users.

A Unified Approach to Innovation

We believe that an open e-system with collaborative component providers drives innovation, safer bikes, and a better user experience. By combining Comodule’s IoT and digital security features with 2Lock’s physical security solutions, we’ve developed a sophisticated security package, marking another significant step towards making bike theft obsolete.
